Cervical Interlaminar Epidural Steroid Injection
This procedure can be recommended in order to reduce pain associated with pinched or irritated nerves in the neck resulting in arm pain and/or shoulder pain.
This procedure involves injection of numbing and anti-inflammatory steroid medication into the epidural space close to a presumed irritated nerve.
This procedure typically involves placement of a needle into the upper back or lower neck to access the epidural space.
Subsequently the therapeutic medication can either be injected into the epidural place through the needle or by placement of a small piece of tubing (catheter) through the needle in order to place the medication closer to the target area. This procedure is performed with x-ray guidance.
